Short Dao
Short Dao are traditional Chinese blades characterized by a relatively long blade and a handle designed for single- or dual-handed use. Single-bladed varieties include Cavalry Sabers, Willow-Leaf Swords, Cleavers, Goose-Feather Swords, and Large Ring Swords, typically used alone or in combination with other weapons such as whips or shields. Single Short Dao are generally larger and heavier, delivering powerful strikes.
Double Short Dao, used in pairs, are smaller and lighter, offering faster, more agile techniques. The most famous example is the Mandarin Duck Sword. Short Dao blades are prized for their versatility, balance, and historical significance, making them ideal for collectors, martial artists, and enthusiasts of traditional Chinese weaponry.
